Community

Communities must concurrently confront the challenge of retaining and growing existing firms while realizing the opportunity of recruiting new.  People can be essential to both.  Retaining and promoting the growth of firms already located in the community typically requires building upon and enhance existing workforce talent, often provided by training and education programs targeted to the firm’s needs.  If the community’s strategy is to focus on growth industries—with the goal of attracting new companies—they need to do more than develop current talent, they need to attract new.  The academic research programs of a university can help here as well.

Whichever strategy they choose, NSMU can partner with communities in realizing their economic development aspirations.  It is embedded in NMSU’s land-grant mission after all. Including but also beyond traditional educational programs, NMSU is ready work with you to meet the talent development potential of individuals, companies, and communities.  Explore the links below to discover resources, and ways to connect with NMSU for talent development.
